Plan in Place

I have been able to come up with a doable plan for Rocky 100.  I know it is achievable, what I lack is the drive to follow through.

I thrive very well on structure and discipline and having had a few weeks of neither has not helped me to stay motivated.  I am hoping that following my plan will encourage my heart to follow in a timely manner.

It was a bit brisk out there this morning, but still quite a wonderful morning for a run.  It definitely feels like fall!

  1. I know well how lack of structure can lead to lack of discipline and then to lack of motivation, and at times have to play the "mind games" necessary to stay on plan.

You have already accomplished some remarkable goals and have far exceeded what the average person would even consider possible. I have every confidence in your ability to go that last mile (pardon the pun) and get this done.

If you think it would help, I'd be happy to come yell at you now and then to get you moving!

  2. Is that pushups and core I see on your log, young lady?! Good work!! If it helps at all, I'm confident you can carry your plan through. Sometimes support is just as important as structure! :)

  3. I love you guys! Yes, Richard, appropriately placed yelling with definitely achieve the desired effect...LOL!

And yes, Adrienne, I've started logging my plan outside of running. Hoping that this will hold me more accountable. Alternating core/push ups on M, W, F, with Lunges and UE strengthening on T, Th. Nothing more than 20 - 30 mins at this point, but I think it will be effective and actually doable rather than "pie in the sky" training which is my usual course of events. Plan for the ultimate achieve the least, and feel guilty the whole time! LOL Goodbye guilt! Hello positivity!

  4. I can't say that I will be around to yell at you at the right times, Karen (unless you want to call me to tell me to yell at you, LOL!); however, I will will try to honk in an encouraging manner when I drive by you while you run over the next few months.

  5. Rocky Racoon again! Sometimes I wonder if this old body can take more than a half Marathon's worth of training. Wow, now you are motivating ME. Go for it!
